BY-LAWS
The South Shore Democratic Caucus
ARTI NAME The name of the
Committee shall be Co-Op 8, The South Shore Democratic cooperative.
ARTICLE II-PURPOSES
The Committee is constituted for the purpose of promoting the Democratic party
and its policies and to promote cooperative planning, fundraising, and any other
activity which will encourage local Democratic participation.
ARTICLE III-MEMBERSHIP
1. Membership on the committee shall consist of the Democratic Town Committees
of Cohasset, Duxbury, Hingham, Hull, Marshfield, Norwell, Scituate, and
Weymouth.
2. Activities are open to any registered Democrat.
3. Towns seeking membership to CO-Op 8 must have the approval of a majority of
the member town committees.
4. Member committees shall abide by the policies and bylaws of co-Op 8. Failure
to comply shall subject the member town committees to a suspension of voting
rights and participation in any co-Op 8 activities. Said suspension shall be by
a vote of members present and voting at a duly-called co-Op 8 Meeting.
5. Expulsion of a member town shall be voted upon at a duly-called CO-Op 8
meeting. A vote for expulsion shall be ratified by 5 member town committees.
Expulsion will to be in effect after said ratification.
ARTICLE IV-REPRESENTATIVES
Each town Committee shall select three elected town committee members. Associate
members are not eligible to serve as a representative to co-Op 8.
ARTICLE V -OFFICERS
1.
The officers of this Committee shall consist of Chairman, Vice-Chairman,
Treasurer, and Secretary.
2.
Representatives shall elect officers at the May meeting for a term of two years.
Officers shall be elected from representatives as defined in Article IV.
3.
The Four elected officers shall be from different member towns.

1.
The Chairman shall not be a candidate for any public office other than a town
office.
2.
Vacancies shall be filled at the next regularly scheduled co-Op 8 Meeting.
3.
Two-thirds of the members voting at any duly-called Co-Op 8 Meeting may remove
any officer with just reason.
ARTICLE VI -DUTIES OF OFFICERS
1.
The Chairman shall preside at all meetings and shall assist in the formation of
the policies of the Committee. The Chairman shall have the same right to vote as
do the other members of the Committee. The Chairman shall be, ex officio, a
member of all committees. The Chairman shall name the chairman of all
committees.
2.
In the absence of the Chairman, the Vice Chairman shall perform all duties of
the Chairman.
3.
The secretary shall keep a true, accurate and complete record of all the
proceedings of the meetings, and record the attendance of all voting members.
The Secretary shall issue written notice of all meetings and shall perform such
other duties pertaining to the office as may be required by the Chairman. In the
absence of the Secretary, a Secretary pro-Tern shall be appointed by the
Chairman.
4.
The Treasurer shall have custody of all funds of the Committee, receive all
money and deposit the same as directed by the Committee, and maintain all
financial records. The Treasurer shall have the responsibility for submitting
the required state filings. The Treasurer shall make all disbursements under the
supervision and direction of the chairman
and
keep accurate books of accounts. The Treasurer shall make a financial report at
every regular meeting and shall submit an Annual Report at the reorganization
meeting in May. The books shall be audited annually in April by a committee of
three appointed by the Chairman.
ARTICLE VII -MEETINGS
1.
There shall be a minimum of two regular meetings r year, during the months of
September and May.
2.
Each town shall be required to have representatives at all meetings.
