Minutes … Meeting, Thurs., June 1, 2010

Meeting called to order by Chairman Kevin McCarthy at 7:15 p.m. at the Pratt Memorial Library, Cohasset.

I.                      Guest Reports: 

Steve Grossman: Rep. came to say, “Thank you.” Steve won 84% of the Dem. vote, but is taking nothing for granted. Campaign made extensive use of social media:  texting, twittering, etc.

Nancy Melia of Duxbury spoke briefly on behalf of Sen. Rob O’Leary and can be reached at ncmelia@verizon.net.

Laura Dhooze reminded us of the Patrick/Murray goal of having 2030 organizers in the upcoming campaign and distributed pledge cards.  Laura and John B. reinforced use of New Community Tool:  1. Go to:  DevalPatrick.com.  2. Clk: Organizer 3. Clk: Create an Account.

II.                    Upcoming Events, Information, and Discussion

A.       Review plans for Candidates Forum sponsored by SSDC

Cost:  Each Town Com. will contribute $20.00 to cover expenses.  This minimal fee is DUE at our Aug.5 meeting.

B.       Members of Old Colony Library Network can avail themselves of computer training at Norwell Library on Wed. and Thurs. mornings at 10:00 a.m. Contact Jeanne Ryer.

C.       Concern with SSDC Meeting Format

Do we have too many speakers? Have we, as a coordinating group of the 8 town committees which we represent, strayed from our traditional mission? Continued discussion at Aug. 5 mtg.

Request for list of SSDC reps with tel#’s and e-mail addresses.  Secretary agreed to make and distribute the list
