Minutes … Meeting, Thurs., May 6, 2010

Meeting called to order by Chairman Kevin McCarthy at 7:15 p.m. at the Pratt Memorial Library, Cohasset.

Guest Speaker: Bill Keating, Candidate for Congress

80% of Republicans vs. 60% of Democrats feel energized about the upcoming elections, considered one of the top 10 races in the country.  Jeff Perry, R, was introduced by Sen. Scott Brown at recent R Convention. It is commonly held that Scott Brown was not clearly defined in the Jan. election. Bill Keating, is determined that Jeff Perry will not go undefined.  Perry is proud of the AZ immigration law, is anti-gay, anti-choice, and is in line to be well financed by gun lobby.

As Norfolk DA, Bill has cracked down on cyber criminals and white collar crime. He has helped improve public safety laws and is proud of the work he has done targeting drug traffickers. He has been an advocate for children’s programs, including autism, scoliosis and mental health programs as well as programs for single parents.     

Keating for Congress Campaign Kick-Off:  Germantown Community Center, Sunday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m.

Upcoming Plans:

Diane Danielson will give a presentation at Cohasset Library on social media. As soon as date is firm, Kevin will let us know. Possible dates: June 21, 28, or 29.

SSDC at Scituate H.S. is planning a Quorum on Candidates for Congress. Rob O’Leary and Bill Keating.  All endorsed Candidates for Statewide Elections will also be given a chance to speak.

                      Scituate -KB will check on availability of SHS

                      Cohasset (KMcC) will call the candidates and will ask the questions.

                      Weymouth (AA, LB, LH) will call other candidates

Hingham (SH) will sort the questions

Marshfield (JB) media presentation

Hull (M/DC) cards, pencils, trays for questions

Norwell (BB) tables at door

    The Patrick/Murray Campaign … Next meeting …

Because the Convention is on June 5-6, we will meet on June 10, 2010.

     We will use the meeting time to discuss support strategies for the campaign.
